Why upgrade?
Support for Windows 10 ended on October 14, 2025
After October 14, 2025, Microsoft will no longer provide free software updates from Windows Update, technical assistance, or security fixes for Windows 10. Your PC will still work, but we recommend moving to Windows 11.
Staying on Windows 10 can pose a security risk to your Eastern Michigan assigned computer and our network. We highly encourage upgrading to Windows 11, as all the Windows computers we get are Windows 11
How to upgrade
The easiest way to see if a device meets the requirements for Windows 11 after making hardware changes to the device is with the PC Health Check app (usually required):
It's recommended to backup important data to Google Drive or an external storage device. The process should keep your data, but there may be a chance that something doesn't go right
