Note: This was made to fix an issue where the computer would hang in the imaging process before reaching the password prompt. This specifically appears on Dell Latitude laptops. For DHCP/SCCM issues, see a different guide.
-
Make sure all usual BIOS settings for imaging are as they should be (ensure any options to allow booting to USB are also enabled)
-
Shut the computer down
-
Grab a USB C to Ethernet adapter (There should be some in the second drawer in the cabinet where we keep USBs, Keys, etc. on top)
-
Plug it into the computer
-
Hold F12 on startup
-
Make sure you boot into USB NIC (IPv4) as opposed to the usual onboard NIC
-
Continue imaging as usual, it should work now
Note: This approach was recently shown to work a proof of concept on a Dell Latitude 5540 from CoE {“HYB-L-JZ52KS3”}
(Athletics Laptops, workaround may also work for Latitude 5440)
